Description: Our Startup initiative is based on student-driven independent projects. The founders and advisors are grad students, alumni or scientists from Pitt, CMU and UPMC. We were also selected and successfully completed the NSF Innovation-Corps program (at CMU) and have recently been shortlisted finalists or won awards at several international conferences (IEEE-SMC 1st prize) and Technology Investors/VCs: the AlphaLab Gear (Pittsburgh, PA); TusStar (Tsinghua University Science Park, Beijing, China) and few others. So far at this time, we are still independently owned, have not formally entered any incubation agreements and seeking suitable investors in US and China to raise venture capitals and business resources towards our product development, commercialization and business development initiatives. We aim to continue this collaborative innovation, product development and market expansion in both US and China.

Rating: EXG Wearables is developing simple, user-friendly wearable devices that allow users extra controllability to interact with the surrounding smart-home IoTs and external assistive robots. Our first product EXGbuds is a compact, customizable earbud-headset that generates actionable commands from simple eye movements and facial gestures. It allows even disabled people to control any smart devices or operating wheelchairs hands-free. Incorporating our patent-pending technology, open-sourced brain-computer interface and our proprietary machine-learning platform, we develop Apps to go along with the wearables that allow users to control things completely "hands-free" and “touch-free”. It has applications in a variety of niche markets: (i) smart-home (ii) disability/nursing home/hospitals (iii) interactive gaming, AR/VR industry. We have competitive advantages over existing eye-tracking devices, which require camera, are bulky, cumbersome and obtrusive.
